Community Transport The Driving force of volunteering
Community Transport schemes are always happy to involve new volunteers in their work. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks including transporting people in minibuses or their own car, taking telephone bookings, helping with the day to day management, fundraising, producing publicity material or by becoming a committee member.

Volunteer Drivers Required
To some members of society public transport is mainly inaccessible Community Transport. Volunteers provide help with getting out and about. Assistance is given with shopping, attending lunch clubs, keeping appointments, going out to the theatre or attending skills courses.
How can I help?
By becoming a volunteer driver with Community Transport:
You will be helping to provide support to the most disadvantaged members of our society.
You will be providing much needed transport to those who cannot use public transport for a variety of reasons
Can I Choose when I will help?
Yes, this is entirely up to you. We have requests for volunteers through the week. We can normally match the time you are free to our requests. Most volunteers help once a week or more often, depending on their availability. You can also let us know which type of requests you prefer to help with: whether it is short one off journeys with regular times or longer distances.
Will I receive expenses and other support?
Expenses are paid to volunteers which may include bus fares, petrol, subsistence allowance, parking, meals. We can offer driving courses, first aid courses, passenger handling courses,
Use of our minibuses and goods vehicles to help people:
- One off trips
- Weekly transport to learning centres
- Medical appointments
- Shopping
- Seaside trips
- Outings to theatres
- Educational visits
- Attending meetings
- Other journeys people like to make
- Goods vehicles
- Household collections and deliveries
Volunteering at Community Transport. Means that you will be:
- Gaining much valuable experience and training
- Helping at times to suit you
- Receiving expenses
- Providing much needed support to other people
- Assisting disabled and elderly people to live independent lives
- Making our Communities a better place to live in
All volunteer drivers must be over 21 years old and hold a current licence.
