An annual membership fee For an annual cost of £12 a group can have access to the mini-bus at any time and for an affordable charge. A group will then become a member of Llynfi Valley Community Transport and can send a representative to the Annual General Meeting, elect the officers, become part of the Management Committee and be elected to the Board of Directors if he/she so wishes. MIDAS trained driver All volunteer drivers will be trained by us up to the Mini-bus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) * which is a nationally recognised form of training organised by the Community Transport Association UK and delivered by Llynfi Valley Community Transport www.communitytransport.com/ Comfortable facilities Our mini-bus is a Renault Master that comfortably seats 12 passengers in the back and a driver and two passengers in the front. It is specially adapted for easy access for wheelchairs and can provide space for static or electric wheelchairs . It is fully fitted with dual seatbelts for children and adults. DVD facilities inside the bus The minibus has a DVD player, which plays all types of DVDs and CDs, and allows groups to be entertained on their journey. . Easy accessibility The mini-bus has a side and rear entrance for easy access, and is specially adapted with a lift for the comfort of wheelchair users and anyone who has difficulty with mobility.
No hidden charges Once the £12 membership fee is paid, the hire of the mini-bus is charged at a rate of £1.10 per mile with no extra costs for fuel or the use of our driver. Non-members Non-members would be charged at the increased rate of £2 a mile and would be accompanied by our driver unless they have MIDAS trained driver of their own. Affordable costs The aim of Llynfi Valley Community Transport is to provide affordable, reliable and accessible transport. As it operates under a Section 19 permit, which sets it apart from a commercial transport operator, it does not have standard fares or planned routes. We work on a ‘non-profit making’ basis. Train a member of your team to become a MIDAS driver The MiDAS scheme has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses. If a member of your group undergoes the training given by Llynfi Valley Community Transport Ltd, this will give your group more flexibility in the use of the minibus as you are no longer dependent on a LVCT driver.
